  • What battle would you have liked to plan?

Hindsight is 20/20, but what World War II battle would you like to have planned? Think in terms of what those who actually choreographed these engagements knew at the time.

    D-Day?
    Market Garden?
    Kursk?
    Stalingrad?
    Iwo Jima?

Operation Market Garden. It was a challenge and because I dare say that I would paid attention to the recon information about the german tanks hidden in Arnhem.

In my opinion Kursk. Because I would have captured the German battle plans. I could examine the documents and take the required steps to defeat the enemy.

        Overlord.

The Americans would have been told to STFU and they were using all the British funnies whether they liked it or not.

American: Gettysburg. Antietam. Trenton. Little Big Horn.

            European: Waterloo. Nappy's Russian Invasion.

Asian: Quagemala. (looks wrong, an Alexander battle.)

Without a doubt - Market Garden.
All the assets available to the Allied generals and the sheer scale of the operation would have been awesome to plan. Of course; being an American I would have given Arnhem to the 82d or 101st rather than the under-manned Red Devils.

Cetainly Stalingrad! It would have been challenging theatre because of tactic troubles due to the city environment.

Its got to be Kursk for me.

All the options that could have been taken from the German side drives me crazy! I could count the ways here, but I will leave it as is for now.

One option that I would have liked to see would be the push to the gates of Moscow........ Now there was an opportunity missed if I ever saw one.

                  You think?

                  Cheers
