I believe another much used word for such services is "movement control". It does not mean standing in road crossings, directing traffic, but rather the overlaying planning, control and registration of military unit movements in, or between, given areas.

If you don't mean "trafficking".....that is something else.......since you're here why not introduce yourself?

      hi Fred,
my name is Tom, I am from Ireland, a little place called waterford. I found out by accident that my Great Grandfather fought with the australian 2nd div. they have a fantastic records website, his whole army file is available online. i am trying to make sense of it and joined here to try to find someone that could explain it to me. he arrived in marseilles in 1915 and was demobbed in charleroi in 1919..so he spent the war in france/belgium. just trying to find out doing what.

      regards

      tom

No problem, Tom - what I meant to say is that because you are on the "introductions" thread it might be a good idea to introduce yourself......

If by "traffic control" you mean what I think you do - it is something that every military "machine" makes use of. Controlling the flow of units, supply and equipment. The military police is usually part of this, too.

Good luck with your quest. It might be a good idea to open a dedicated thread on the subject. You'll surely get help along the way here.
