    • Thanks for this one

I have a very large collection of russian flicks, but I don't have this one.
      Specially not with english subtitles.
Downloading movies is impossible for me, because I use a satelite system
that only allowes me 250 mbs per day.
Is there a DVD or even VHS out there ?

            • I'd also like to see this Czech film "The Battle of Moscow". Here's a longer version of "Vertikal" plus "Afghan Breakdown" (1990, one of the last Soviet films that came out in "Free" Russia) also without subtitles unfortunately:

As to your question regarding the Ascent, Criterion Collection has this film as well as her previous film in a nice double dvd set with subtitles, improved image, and booklet: http://www.criterion.com/boxsets/75

                • I think you saw Soviet epic "Battle for Moscow". It consisted from 2 parts "Barbarossa" and "Typhon", both of them consist of 2 parts. It is app. 6 hours. The movie describes actions from 1939 till December 1941.

That movie (like the other epic Soviet movies) was done in cooperation with foreign Film Studios - of DDR (DEFA), Czechoslovakia (Srtudio Barrandow (if I remember correctly)), Hungary and so on. The most of the Germans were played by real German actors from DDR. The names of those foreign studios were mentioned in titles of the movie so it can be the reason why you suppose it was a Czhechoslovakian movie.
