  • Active Army list series

    Gentlemen,

I am posting this because I can not posting the sample page on the other forum.

While the official order of battle series is extensive, it is not complete. Sometime in the 1950's, the Ministry of Defense/General Staff published a 36 volume set listing every unit that was in the Active Army both during the war with Germany and with Japan. Tracking this set down has been extremely difficult. If anyone can find this set, please let me know.

Here is the list of the books in the series:

    No. 2 Armies
No. 3 Operational Groups and so on (Fortified Regions included)

Mikhael told me about this serie. I'm also interested in its.:thumb: Maybe if I visit Russian State Library I can try to search for it...
    But not anywhere else ........

And RGB (Russ. State Lib.) has a terrible feature to place its funds in heaps and make them unavailable for readers!
    So all could be.......
If you fire a rifle at the past, the future will fire a cannon at you.....

      Do best that you can

      AMVAS and others,

Just do the best that you can. I am definitely sure that many, many formations and units not previously identified in the "Boevoi Sostav Sovetskii Armii" series will be identified.

I know because already Mikhail Bykov is copying (by hand!) all of the formations and units of the VVS.

      Regards,

      Craig

I'm not sure when I visit RGB next time.... But if I do this I certainly will search for it..

        Copying by hand????
In such a speed he'll finish to the 2100th year

BTW, where did he found this??

          AMVAS

He is hoping to be done with the VVS sometime early next year.

Yes, I know your message was a joke.

            Ooops (Again)

            AMVAS,

He found the entire set in the library of the Institue for Military History (IVI) in Moscow.

He said he was only authorized to look at the VVS books, but I don't know it they are restricted.

                AMVAS,

Just let me know if you can get access or not. You have a better chance than I would since I am a foregin citizen.

                  No association with military needed

                  AMVAS,

I do not think you need to be associated with the military to get access.
Pavel Aptekar can get into library (at least to visit). But he also cannot have time to xerox material.

                    Surely?
But I also have not much time for the same
In RGB I need to order copying and I myself have to do nothing but wait for its final

                      All the luck

                      AMVAS,

Well, the only thing we can do then is hope for the best and if you can find it in the RGB.
If not there, maybe you can contact Pavel to see how he is doing.

                            List,

                            Alexandr,

I got it from you. I'm trying to find someone who can work on finding the other books in the series.

I already have Mikhail Bykov (from the Aviation Forum) working on the books with the VVS formations and units.

                            Regards,

Alexandr, I got it from you.
                              I guessed.

So, tell me please here (if you do not reply for my e-mails), why did you removed any links for me or our site RKKA ?
