  • Aerial Photograph - Krasny Oktyabr?

    Hi:

The attached photo was on page 60 in "Voices from Stalingrad", by Jonathan Bastable. The caption does not describe the location. Based on the number of oil tanks and the tracks running from the lower right to the front of the tanks, I am fairly certain it is Krasny Oktyabr.

    What do you think?

    Regards,

    John

        Aerial Photo

        AMVAS:

Based on the island at the top of your photo, I would suggest the area is half way between the Tractor Factory and the Brick Factory.

            Tractory Factory

            AMVAS

Albert Kahn was asked to design the tractor factory in 1929. I can not find the date for the construction of the brick factory.

How big is the map? Can it be copied or scanned?

It's very big, but I can send it ty on CD in exchange for that German archival materials, for example.
I photocopied it from a large pieces in a library. I had no chance to make it copied by any other means, because they had no such a scanner.
but they have all the streets and I think oil tanks too...
