OK Andrey, hope you like it, I did this from text on the website, I think it misses one verse but it doesn't really affect the poem that much.

"Thus Kill Him!" by K. Simonov
      (badly translated by Emil G)

If you value your home and hearth
Where you, in everything that's Russian was raised
      Under the wooden ceiling
Where in the crib you rocked and dremt

If valued by you in that home are
The walls, the stove, the corners
Where by your grandfather, his father and yours
      The floors were treaded by...

If lovely the meager garden is to you
      Where the May flowers grow
      And the bees buzz
Under the linden tree the old wooden table
Your grandfather dug in the earth...

If your mother is dear to you,
Who's breast you fed from at birth
From where milk flows no more
Only where you can rest you cheek

If you don't want to give away
The one with whom you shared the time of your life
The one who you dared not kiss
Because you loved her too much.
So Germans won't have her 3 at a time
      With violence, cornered
Then crucified naked, alive on the floor
So these 3 dogs get their dues
In strife, in hate and in blood
All that's holy, that you solely protected
With all the strength of a man's love.

Thus kill the German, so that he,
And not you on the ground shall lie
So not from your home will there be heard a cry
But the cry of his death
He wanted as much - by his own resolve
Let not your mother weep herself insane
But let his instead mourn for him
Let not yours but his wife
Wait for his return in vain.

If a German, your brother has killed,
If a German, your neighbor has killed, -
Then your brother and neighbor have avenged,
But for you there shall be no excuse.
One should not hide behind another's back,
Another's weapon will not do your deed,
      Thus kill the German yourself
Thus kill him as fast as you can,
How many ever times he appears,
That many times you should kill.

There are special programs - ReGet, FlashGet. They are called Web Downloaders.

you place a link into them - they download the file.

                • Hey all, I'm pretty full up here at the university, but my computer died so I need to get all the music again; I'll be going through this process slowly, but I'll be able to let everyone know which links are broken, and hopefully we can update it and make it clearer for everyone.

"If it will be war tomorrow"

It was the sing from the popular pre-war movie " If it will be war tomorrow ". There is the one good determination of this movie – facile optimism. In this movie am enemy attacked USSR and the large masses of Soviet tanks, planes, cavalry eliminated this enemy.

This song was very popular before the war, the radio often broadcasted this song.

This song became the symbol of the pre-WWII time.

"If it will be war tomorrow "

                          (Translated by Andrey)

If it will be war tomorrow, if an enemy will attack,
If evil force will arrive unexpectedly -
All the Soviet people, all to a man,
Will stand up for protection of the free Motherland!

                          Refrain:
In ground, in a sky and in a sea
Our tune is mighty and harsh:
”If it will be war tomorrow,
If we shall have to march, -
                          Be ready to march today!”

If it will be war tomorrow - all the country will rouse
                          From Kronshtadt to Vladivostok.[1]
The great and strong country will rouse
And we shall eliminate the enemy.

                          Repeat refrain.

A plane will fly, a machinegun will fire,
                          Many mighty tanks will rumble,
And some battleships will move, and our infantry will move,
And many dashing "tachankas" [2] will rush at full speed!

                          Repeat refrain.

We do not want a war but we are able to protect our land -
We fortify our defense not in vain.
And we shall crush the enemy in enemy's land
With few casualties but with mighty thrust!

                          Repeat refrain.

Stand up, people, prepare to a campaign,
                          Drums, drum stronger!
Musicians, go ahead! Precentors, go ahead!
                          Sing our victorious song!

                          Repeat refrain.

                          1937

There are some other versions of this song, For an example, there is the version which had the following additional couplet in the end of the song:

There is no force in the whole world
Which is able smash us, -
Dear Stalin is with us, and Voroshilov [3]
Leads us with an iron hand to a victory.[4]

                          Remarks of Andrey:
[1] Kronshtadt - the island-naval base near Leningrad/St.Petersburg, Vladivostok – large city-port in the Far East.
[2] "tachanka" is a famous Civil war time light cart with a heavy machine gun, they were used in cavalry units even during of WWII.
[3] Marshal Voroshilov was the famous hero of the Civil War, he was the People Commissar (Minister) of the Defense of USSR
[4]"By an iron hand" means "by a strong hand", it means “a hard, assured leadership”.

                          "Esli zavtra voina"

Esli zavtra voina, esli vrag napadiot,
                          Esli tiomnaia sila nagrianet -
Kak odin chelovek, ves' sovetskii narod
                          Za svobodnuiu Rodinu vstanet!

                          Pripev:

Nash napev i moguch i surov:

                          Bud' segodnia k pokhodu gotov!

Esli zavtra voina - vskolykhnetsia strana

                          Pripev.

My voiny ne khotim, no sebia zashchitim -
                          Oboronu krepim my nedarom.

                            “Farewell, rocky mountains”

                            “Farewell, rocky mountains”

                            (Translated by Andrey)

                            Farewell, rocky mountains,
The Fatherland calls us to a feat!
We have went to open sea
For a harsh and far campaign.
                            And waves moan and cry,
And splash on the board of the ship.
The Rybachii [1] passed out of a sight in a far fog,
                            It is our home land.
The Rybachii [1] passed out of a sight in a far fog,
                            It is our home land.

                            Our ship is tossing obstinately
                            By a stern sea wave,
It is raising and is throwing again the ship
                            In the boiled abyss.
I shall return back not quickly
But I have enough forces for a battle.
I know, friends, that I can not live without a sea
Like a sea is dead without me.

                            I come towards an enemy
                            By sailor’s not easy gait.
And later I shall return to the home rocky coast
                            With a feat victory.
                            Though waves moan and cry
And splash on the board of the ship
But the Rybachii will gaily meet the heroes
                            It is our home land.
But the Rybachii will gaily meet the heroes

                              “Dark night”

It is the very famous Soviet WWII-time song from the movie “Dva boitsa” (“Two soldiers”). This movie was made in 1942, it is about two friends who defend Leningrad and became to love the same girl. This song was singed by Mark Bernes, he played one of these two friends. His image in this movie was great, he shows the brave soldier from Odessa, it was the typical image of a Soviet Marine.

This song was very popular in frontline troops, it became the national hit right after its appearance.

                              “Dark night”

                              The night is dark,
Only bullets are whining in the steppe,
Only a wind is buzzing in wires,
                              Stars are dimly twinkling.
I know that you, my beloved girl,
Do not sleep this dark night
                              And secretly are wiping tear
                              Near a cot.
                              How I love
The depth of your tender eyes!
How I want to nestle up my lips
                              Close to them now!
                              The dark night
                              Separates us, my beloved girl,
                              And the disturbed black steppe
                              Lies between us.

                              I believe in your,
                              my dear she-friend.
                              This belief protected me
From a bullet in a dark night.
                              I am gaily
I am quiet in a mortal combat
I know you to meet me in love
                              Whatever had happened.
I'm not frightened with a death
We've already met with it in a steppe many times
                              And even now
                              It is whirling over me.
                              You are waiting for me
And do not sleep near cot
                              So therefore I know
Nothing bad can happen with me.
