    • Joseph Brodsky's "Lili Marlene"

I've been looking at these verses for some time now....(see the first set of Lyrics posted on http://www.ostfront.ru/Soldatenheim/LiliMarlen.html ) but my software and dictionaries don't handle "Poetry" very well at all! Could you please give me a "Free" Translation of the lines? (I sincerely apologize if this has already been covered ...!)

A small warning: There is a little of Communist rethoric in the site but don't think about it.

"Esli dorog tebe tvoi dom..." ("If your home is dear for you...") by K. Simonov in 1942

It was a very famous poetry.

                  Great impression.

Wow, I've never heard this. Very stirring, but I think to anyone that doesn't understand the words, it will just sound like funny, old acting.

It was very popular in the USSR in 70th-80th
