Thanks. I got those for my 21st Birthday, back in 2001. I turned all the kids who hated rap into rappers. Kids who'd never listen to rap, I had them writing rhymes and coming out to the park to make big fools of ourselves in front of the neighborhood. Nothing like a bunch of white rappers....

      • Looks like this song has at least 2 variants:

Song of the Don cossacks (Regiments rode, across the steppe with glory...)

        Song of the Don cossacks
        Music: I. Dzerzhinsky Lyrics: A.Churkin

        • Smuglyanka:
The most beautyful version of this song I discovered on the DVD miniseries "Soldaty Svobody"
          Disc 3:
          Marshall Malinovski allowes a concert
for the troops, on the eve of the Battle of Jassy, 1944. (The start of the liberation of the Balkans via the Soviet Army). There is a very beautyful female Soviet Soldier with an army orchester supporting, singing the Smuglyanka. My Question:
Which russian actress is doing the performance ? I believe I saw Her giving an orchestra on Berlin Alexanderplace in the 70's, I would like to know her name.

          • Hi all, I am new to this site and a big fan of soviet music for the past couple of years; I started learning Russian on my own, but I am yet only a beginner. Now, there is this soviet song I have found on the internet with the French title "Chant du soldat Russe" ("song of the Russian soldier") and I cannot seem to find lyrics for it anywhere. It is sung by a male baritone (I guess) and a chorus and the only words and lines I could make out (and I could be very wrong ) are:

раство or равство (? sung as a refrain)
at some point the chorus sings
at some point the baritone says спаснбо
            three "ura" at the end

Does anyone know the song I am talking about or have the lyrics?

Also another song I could never find the full lyrics to is called "Border guards March" (not sure about the Russian title, it could be пограничники)

The only lyrics I could find were:

            And the refrain:

            Anyone knows the full lyrics?

Thank you for your time, I would be grateful for any help, and of course, sorry if those have been brought up before!

I have seen this movie very long time ago and don't remember the details.

You can look the list of the playing actors - in the Soviet movies the names of all the actors (not only superstars like in Hollywood) are shown.

Give the sounds (how you hear it) with latin letters. Your current info is not enough.

                • Sorry, Andrey, no idea why the cyrillic didn't show!
                  here it is:

it begins with something like "kto v ruskii armii geroi ... sovet takoi"
the chorus and the barytone sing "rastvo" or "ravstvo" (could be "rastva" of course, it would sound the same to me...) as part of the refrain
the chorus sings at some point "posideli slavnye pobedy ... nashi deti (could be wrong about "deti")"
at some point the barytone says "spasibo" (it sounds as if there is a dialogue going on)
it ends with 3 "ura" by the chorus.

I get random words or short phrases like "zemlyu", "s vragom", "soldat", "narodom", "boyeval v boyu", "postroit dom" all over, but I can't put them in context.

In case the "Border Guards" lyrics' fragments didn't appear either, here they are in latin script:

                  "

"i den' i noch pozemka i sleg li metet, i den' i noch soldat svoyu sluzhbu neset"

at some point the chorus says "na nashu sovetskuyu zemlyu vstupit'"

This is sung only by a chorus.

Thank you very much for your time!

Don't try to write Russian words. Write the sounds that you hear. That what you hear. I'll try to turn it in Russian words

                    • I think I know what you mean, but I don't really 'hear" sounds, unless I can make sense of the words. If I cannot identify the words, it is practically just noise to me, especially since most of it is chorus, which doesn't make things easy; I have trouble making out sounds of what a chorus sings even when they sing in Greek, my native language, let alone a language I know only the basics of!

Anyway, here is a link to the "Border Guards' March" (mp3), if you'd like to give it a go, I think it would be a lot easier that way:

                      http://www.sovmusic.ru/english/downl...?fname=marpogr

I cannot find the "Chant du soldat Russe" somewhere as a single mp3 on the web; if you'd like I could try and send it to you, it is a great march after all!

Thanks again; if that doesn't help, nevermind, I am still grateful for your time!

                      • It seems I have heard the first song - it is "Song about Russian Soldier" - "Песня о русском солдате" ( "Кто в русской армии герой, понятно без подсказки")

                          • Thanks for that, Rambow!

There still seem to be no lyrics for it on the Soviet Music site though; from a google search I have found only part of the song and the lyrics at some points are variants, it doesn't sound like what is actually sung in my version.

                            • In fact there is a mix of two songs: old traditional march song "Солдатушки, бравы ребятушки" (singing by a choir as a chorus) and new verses.
