I was in 4-7 Cav at Camp G.O. 96-97 and then in 1-23 Inf at Lewis starting in '01building the first SBCT. I am authorized a 2ID Combat patch as well.

I did most of my time in 2ID, but I enjoyed my 3ID time the most!

Great to hear from another Korean vet. I worked out of Stanton Airfield. Take care and keep in touch.

I was with 168th Eng Bn, 3rd Bde, 2 ID in Ft Lewis from 96'-98'. Spent 2000 at "The Hump" in Korea.
If you can't set a good example, be a glaring warning.

Great to hear from another "Indianhead". With each reply, I am more and more impressed with the class of individual in this forum.

Transferred to Hovey in 04 and deployed to Iraq with 2-17 FA.

SGT Long, Seven years with EUSA G-2 and USFK J-2 as a civilian after I retired. From 05-07 worked with Chief Martindale, who did his best to bring 2ID standards to the G-2. (a Herculean effort mightily opposed by many of the slackers) So I did get to do an occasional exercise with 2ID. Also, one of my best friends was a Company XO in 2/9th Inf during Paul Bunyan.

I'm trying to remember this cadence we used to sing

F--- a Manchu mile and everybody south of me
While First and Deuce Tank are drinking down in TDC
I'm here stuck in overwatch for LRS out in the DMZ

Then it was something about soju in my stetson, its been 14 years!

Yup, you would have been there when we kicked off from Hovey in 04.
There was a VERY grouchy retired SF guy running our DFAC, made HPJ look like Jiminey Cricket.

                          Hell of a patch.
                          My worst jump story:
My 13th jump was on the 13th day of the month, aircraft number 013.
As recorded on my DA Form 1307 Individual Jump Log.
                          No lie.

                          ~
"Everything looks all right. Have a good jump, eh."
