Doubtful if anyone in Aurora had ever even seen aluminum at this point in history.

Indeed and it seems strange that a civilisation that had the technology to cross interstellar space would still be using paper to record information on.

          • Itís amusing how this and Roswell were just obscure stories in the news and forgotten rather quickly... then both popped up again in the 70s with UFO enthusiasts.

These things keep popping up. Now that crop circles have been revealed as two men with a plank and not UFOs that'll go quiet for a while until some gullible conspiratorist revives it - there's always one.

Crop circles, in rural Saskatchewan, are how we keep our greasy spoons. B & B's, and stripper bars going....
                And I don't use a plank. I use a 1959 Studebaker door on a chain...

                  • The Lunatics are out there

Making jokes about UFOs etc etc can be dangerous if there are enough idiots to take it seriously as proposed festivals at Area 51 would suggest. There may be no extraterrestrials but there will be a lot of people who live on a different planet.

                    • It's like a religion now, if the echo chamber is big enough it must be true.

And again, more similarities just like Roswell and the Aurora incident... obscure stories dredged up many years later by people trying to dovetail it with their beliefs.

Actually, there could be a rational reason....

Doug and Dave of that wag didn't seem bright enough for some of the more complex designs that have come along.

Also, that rope and plank method isn't as precise on mashing down tall stalks in a clean line of demarcation, too much splays out to the sides. Also a bit hard to weave the stalks as reported at some locations. Admittedly I'm coming from anecdotal perspective, having given it a try several years ago in the field out back and discovering the limitations.

But even though it doesn't work, "two guys with a rope and plank" does make many feel that all is well with the World and nothing strange anywhere, can sleep at nights ...

                          • Cattle Mutilations and a Satanic Cult?

Experts weigh in on the disturbing, ongoing mutilations of livestock in Central Oregon

                            ...
Over the course of the past three decades, over 10,000 animals across the U.S. have been systematically and inexplicably mutilated.

In 1975, Kansas ranchers Stanley and Carol Post discovered one of their cows dead—a hematoma on its head, its genitalia and udders surgically removed. Around the same time, they found a calf with its eye taken cleanly out of the socket; the end of the optic nerve cauterized to prevent bleeding. During the same year, Democratic Senator Floyd K. Haskell contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigations, urging that they look into the 130 mutilations that had taken place throughout the state of Colorado. Meanwhile in Oregon, people reported a total of 73 cattle mutilations.

Reports died down after the early '80s and didn't pick up again until recently. At the end of July 2019, a dead bull showed up on Silvies Valley Ranch in Central Oregon. Within 24 hours, ranch hands had discovered four more carcasses. The cattle's tongues and genitals had been surgically removed, and they had been completely drained of blood.

It's a tabloid-worthy topic, seeing as a great deal of conspiracy theory surrounds the mutilations. The events have certainly had no lack of media coverage, leading to a host of crazy conjectures ranging from Bigfoot to government corruption. The popular opinion, however, seems to be extraterrestrial activity – sneaky aliens coming down to Earth, mutilating livestock and creeping back to their UFOs, tote bags full of souvenir cow penises. Another widespread speculation is the involvement of Satanic cults.
                            ...
Colby Marshall, vice president of the Silvies Valley Ranch, explained just how difficult it would have been to bring the bulls down in a recent interview with The Oregonian. "How somebody put these bulls on the ground at what would be arguably a fairly close range — and to do it in a way that didn't leave any signs, no trace evidence, no footprints, no struggle marks from the animal, no broken limbs — I have no idea," he said.

For now, the cattle mutilations remain a mystery.

                            https://www.bendsource.com/bend/catt...E5S8A8HNNY2gq4

Part I highlighted in red is what makes this the more mysterious. I doubt Satan is helping with make sure there is no trace evidence, signs, footprints, etc., but whom or what is still a bit puzzling, and has been since a few decades ago ...
