    The attached BBC article on the invention of the black box flight recorder is worth a read. It illustrates how bureaucratic short sightedness almost stopped it happening and it took an equally stubborn persistence to achieve it. Having seen the British MOD at its worst with respect to IT it's almost refreshing to see how its Australian counterpart could be equally blinkered.
