  • Name that element

Elements 113, 115, 117 and 118 have now been produced/identified. They are still to be named. New elements can be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property or a scientist. Any suggestions? To provide inspiration

Since Pandemonium is said to be the capital city of Hell - any connection with Plutonium?

Are the new elements supposed to be quite heavy?

In which case, Pandemonium via hell, Pluto (hades) to Plutoniuam (quite heavy) may fit well.

Kryptonite. We really need to identify what that is. And now we can!

Already done in 1898 by two British scientists neither of whom wore his underpants outside his tights. Krypton is a chemical element with symbol Kr and atomic number 36. It is produced through uranium fission and is used to fill some types of incandescent light where for some reason Argon (which is much cheaper) cannot be used. Used to be used in jet engine ignition systems but cheaper ways have been found. One of it's isotopes is used in MRI scanners.

Well, maybe they should put out bids for naming them off this list...
