How is a slightly warmer average climate worse than a cooler climate (you do understand that climate isn't a "thermostat" that can be set to a stagnant level/temperature average. )

Sorry, but NOT, especially when factoring scale and other factors as I'll point out below. NOTE: This is a common fallacy of the ACC/AGW "True Believers"

Maybe, but as a study of the planet shows, there are other factors in play.

    NOT the actual "major", there are a couple of other factors;
    1) Venus' axial rotation is opposite that of it's angular momentum and the pattern of the other planets. This suggests a physical overturn of the planet by abut 180 degrees which would require much energy to produce. Along with surface disruptions and seismic/volcanic activity it's highly probable much of this energy for axial flip got converted to an intial heat load that the thick atmosphere has trapped. Hence much of the high heat may not be of Solar origin. That overturn could have been the result of an impact event, or some other "event". ()

Note this is not the only unusual axial tilting in the Solar System. Uranus also was tipped a bit, but only about half way with one pole pointing towards the Sun (97.77 degrees) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranus
    2) That atmosphere is about 96.3% CO2, already exceeding the 0.04% of CO2 we have here on Earth, plus the Venus atmosphere is about 93 times more dense than Earth's so we are looking at about 230,000 times as much CO2 on Venus as on Earth, hence the scale is significant. Something that is the sort of math/arithmetic I'd expect you to understand and appreciate.

BTW, Mars also has a mostly CO2 atmosphere (about 96%) but about just 1/100th the density of Earth's, that thin layer comes close to same amount as our 0.04% CO2.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars

Bottomline is that between disparity of scale and density of their atmosphere's neither Venus nor Mars are relevant comparisons to what is happening here on Earth.

NOT proven. May be the reason for retention, but as shown above, probable other factors created that heat in the first place and as you suggest, the cloud cover should reflect so much of the Solar heat that little of it could make it's way under and accumulate.

It's the "A"( Anthropogenic ~ human caused) part that is doing the driving factor of high probability of being a hoax/fraud.

CO2 ratio to everything else in the atmosphere is 1 to 2500 so the scale allow is a major source of doubt that the slight heat retained by the 0.04% of CO2 is going to increase the heat of the other 2,499 parts of the atmosphere. Further, the geological record of past warmer climates and cooler times underscores that we have other and more significant factors in play that the slight increase of CO2 from human activities.

The fact that the pro-ACC/AGW supporters are advocating only one path of soulution, and that a political one, to a non-existant problem further underscores that this is all a fraud(hoax) and not really science at all.

Note that if we discuss NATURAL global warming, I'll admit that may be happening, but not convinced this is anomalous to historical climatic flux, nor based upon CO2 levels. Also, I think we'd be even more "screwed" if the climate was cooling towards another Ice Age in place of warming away from the last one.

            • Been meaning to get back to you Nick, and yu'all on the Venus connection.

First off, if Venus had an Earth-like atmosphere it would only need 10% Water as opposed to Earth's 5%. Just a factor of 2 difference, not a factor of 10 like the CO2.

It takes 243 days for Venus to make one rotation. ~10x that of the Earth. Because it rotates very slowly, the side towards the Sun COOKS!

Consider cooking a hot dog on a campfire, but you can't turn it before you eat it. This is called a "thought experiment" although you can try it at home with your kids. Rotating the hotdog allows the side away from the fire to cool, so it doesn't burn.

Unlike a hotdog, Venus also has good both convective and conductive mechanisms to transport heat from the warm side to the "cool" side.

By comparison, the Earth rotates rapidly, and at night cools down enough to make it bearable. It cools faster than Venus because that 96% CO2 holds in twice as much heat as Earth's water.

Comparing the weather of Earth to Venus is like comparing Apples to Oranges. Yes, they both (like all other planets with atmospheres) have weather because of ... wait for it ... the Sun!

              • The Hoax

Anyone (who can do the math) can scientifically PROVE, using just basic indisputable laws of Physics, that beyond any doubt, humans effect the climate and warm the globe!!!

In fact, it's so obvious you don't need to do the math, and someone already did the math. In 2008, Humans generated/consumed 142.3 TeraWattHours of power per year. 99% of all that huge amount of energy ends up as HEAT in our atmosphere, and hence warms the globe. THIS is AGW, without debate.
                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_energy_consumption

So, maybe I'm a closet AGW "believer".

In fact, consider these other indisputable facts.

Solar panels absorb more Solar energy than the surface of the Earth (which is their purpose). That means that Solar Panels HEAT THE EARTH!!!! This is science fact. You can not argue against it. I can even calculate how much "extra unnatural energy" Solar Panels used by HUMANS absorb by simply comparing the reflectivity/albedo of the Solar Panels vs the Earth's surface. It's a HUGE number of Watts in a year. This is a trivial calculation. It's is an indisputable number.

The point is that this HUGE number is LESS than we can measure.

The same logic works for windmills creating electricity. As the turbines generate electricity they create HEAT, that heat comes from the Earth slowing down and the energy from the SUN that makes the wind blow.

Slowing down the Earth's rotation effects the climate! It can be calculated, but probably not measurable...yet. More windmills and better technology will solve that problem.

All the heat generated by a Nuclear Reactors to create electricity generates lots of HEAT that leads to AGW. Hence the iconic cooling towers associated with them. That hot steam warms the atmosphere. This amount of heat is HUGE!

The point is that CO2 AGW uses the same logic, and the CO2 made by humans has such a tiny effect on our atmosphere that it can't be measured, even though it can be calculated as some tiny fractional amount. As in the examples of Solar, Wind, and Nuclear power, it is therefore irrelevant.

If AGW is a problem then we should all stop heating our homes in the winter. That generates a HUGE amount of warming in our atmosphere!!!

Believers, step up and stop using Wind, Nuclear, Solar, Coal, Hydro Electric (oops, makes HEAT!), and Natural Gas for electricity and heating. You will SAVE THE WORLD! The electric motors on your kitchen appliances, and shop tools generate HEAT! You are ruining the climate!

                Luddites Unite!

                Not.

                AGW is "True", but Irrelevant.

Because those heating effects are NEVER MENTIONED. Just like Water Vapor is not considered an AGW Green House Gas!!!!

                Hence the Hoax.

But it's WORSE than that. Base on some research and math I have done. Human generated CO2 generates about 350x the amount of heat that our power production produces. So those other heat sources don't matter right?

                WRONG!

According to the EPA, concentrations of 500 ppb of Methane are important!
                https://www.epa.gov/climate-indicato...eenhouse-gases
Methane has approximately the same effect on AGW as CO2 molecule per molecule.

That means that Methane is about 1000x LESS effect on AGW as CO2. (A million times less than Water!) But wait! Energy production had about 350x LESS than C02 has on our climate so it is still 3x the effect. Why is it not mentioned as an AGW warming effect???

It's easier to "believe" in AGW than understand it. The bottom line is nothing that humans do to the environment can be measured above the natural climate variation. Even though you can calculate the effects (like the bogus climate models that have already failed).

However, cherry picking your AGW effects is FRAUD! It either ALL matters, or none of it matters. Cherry picking data is exactly what the EPA and IPCC have done, because it follows their agenda of social and industrial control.

                  WRONG!

Cherry picking solutions to non-existent problems is the sign of politicians, not scientists.

You've yet to prove the case for the "human-caused" hence "human solution" hypothesis of ACC/AGW so earn another big fail on all counts/scores.

Underscored by a lifestyle that doesn't match the "solution" you suggest, meaning not only is ACC/AGW a hoax/fraud/phoney, but so are you and any others whom support it.

Past extremes in either direction excede the "records" of the last few decades.

If you truly believe, show it and do your part, stop exhaling CO2 and drop off the planet.

I still don't see how a flyby of Venus can tell you AGW is a hoax? There are too many differences between the two planets, and we haven't even fully worked out our own climate model, hence the continued debate.

If AGW was a hoax, and I was a CEO of one of these energy companies, I would be on prime time news confirming the science. It would kill the debate, and I would not have to waste paying millions via 3rd parties to mercenary scientists.

Agreed. However, I think you are confusing scientific method, ie trying to find out what details actually matter in a model, with some type of Illuminati plan to control the world. Some of the disparate entities that are said to be in cahoots with each other is beyond reasonable doubt.

Edit: If you want to know the actual data from the RSS satalite, go here. It paints a different picture, although in case of impartiality it does state:
Over the past 35 years, the troposphere has warmed significantly. The global average temperature has risen at an average rate of about 0.13 degrees Kelvin per decade (0.23 degrees F per decade).
Climate models cannot explain this warming if human-caused increases in greenhouse gases are not included as input to the model simulation.
The spatial pattern of warming is consistent with human-induced warming. See Santer et al 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012 for more about the detection and attribution of human induced changes in atmospheric temperature using MSU/AMSU data.

                            But....

The troposphere has not warmed quite as fast as most climate models predict.
The lesson is that you need to go direct to the source, rather than trust ExxonMobil propaganda.

                            • An Unmitigated Disaster: Executive Order on Climate Change Puts Us All in Danger

                              Posted: 28 Mar 2017 11:02 AM PDT

President Trump’s latest Executive Order threatens recent strides to combat climate change.

We’ve seen no shortage of Congressional and administrative attacks lately on our wildlife, lands, water and air. While they’ve all been bad, we may now have the WORST: this week’s Executive Order (E.O.) dismantling the nation’s efforts to combat climate change.

Climate change is the single largest threat facing our country and the planet, with vast implications for our health and communities, and wildlife and their habitat. Though the threat has been well understood for decades, the Obama administration was the first to make real progress to mitigate climate change by reducing emissions and developing strategies to prepare for and reduce the impacts of climate change already underway.

Now, with this latest E.O., President Trump could turn back the clock on almost all of that, all but guaranteeing that we will face more climate disasters, and be less able to cope with them.
Order Up: What Concoction is the President Serving Up?

This order cripples President Obama’s overarching strategy for climate change response, the Climate Action Plan, and takes direct aim at some of the Plan’s key elements, most notably efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from new and existing power plants. It directs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to rescind or rewrite the Clean Power Plan (CPP) for existing power plants, and requests a federal court to stay litigation related to the CPP. The E.O. also calls for a rewrite of an earlier regulation that curbs emissions of harmful air pollutants from new, reconstructed and modified oil and gas operations.

This call for “review” of the Climate Action Plan is a terrible blow to our prospects of maintaining a livable climate, and ironically comes just as emissions reduction strategies are beginning to succeed. Last week, the International Energy Agency reported that worldwide greenhouse gas emissions from energy production have now remained steady for three years in a row, which is unprecedented for a time of continued economic growth. Leading the way was the United States, which had a 3 percent drop in emissions over the past year. Astonishingly, “U.S. emissions are at their lowest level since 1992, while the economy has grown 80 percent since that time.” This is tremendous progress. Unfortunately, with Trump’s latest E.O., we are poised to erase these gains and head in the opposite direction.

Trump’s order also cancels last year’s guidance on consideration of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions under the National Environmental Policy Act, our country’s premier planning law. The policy  sought to better inform federal decision-makers on climate and potential impacts of climate change on federal projects, ensuring that federal investments in infrastructure would be both resilient to the impacts of climate change and minimize further impacts on the climate.

The E.O. even undermines how we evaluate the potential impacts of emissions by asking agencies to “reconsider” the social cost of carbon (SC-CO2), the system used to determine a dollar value on the potential benefits of cutting carbon emissions, as well as the long-term costs associated with damage done by a ton of carbon dioxide emissions in a given year. “Reconsider” in this case most likely means shifting to a system that underestimates these impacts.
                              Encouraging Bad Behavior

Beyond stripping away regulations mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and efforts to adapt to climate change impacts, this week’s E.O. will likely spur increased emissions by directing agencies to “identify rules and policies that serve as obstacles or impediments to domestic energy production.” In other words, it seeks to remove production safeguards and encourage more fossil fuel extraction from more areas. The Obama administration had put rules in place to limit the leakage of methane—which has 25 times the warming effect of carbon dioxide—and the contamination of water supplies from oil and gas production on federal lands. The E.O. asks agencies to toss out both rules—and the language of the new direction is so broad it could send lots of other important protections out the window.

This E.O. would also re-start the process to lease federal lands for coal mining, which were previously put under a moratorium during the Obama Administration. This could mean the public lands that belong to us all would be turned into strip mines, mountains would be flattened and laid bare, and the habitats of countless wild animals and plants would be decimated.
                              Unraveling Orders of Magnitude

As if all these blows weren’t reason enough to label this Executive Order the worst we’ve seen to date, there’s more. The new E.O. would also repeal the following previously issued Executive Orders:

Executive Order 13653 (issued November 1, 2013) Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change. This E.O. formed the basis of President Obama’s initiatives to support the federal government, states and tribes to prepare for climate and weather disasters, improve our ability to recover quickly, and rebuild in a smarter and more resilient way.

Executive Order 13677 (issued September 23, 2014) Climate-Resilient International Development. This order directed agencies that facilitate international development to implement principles of climate resilience in their work, similar to what E.O. 13653 required in domestic policy. This E.O. also asked agencies to promote greenhouse gas emission reductions in their international development efforts.

Executive Order 13690 (issued January 30, 2015) Establishing a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard. This E.O. directed agencies to update flood risk assessments to account for the fact that climate change will raise sea levels and increase the severity of precipitation events, meaning that historic flood plain data may no longer accurately represent future risk to life and property. Repealing this E.O. will put trillions of dollars of assets at risk, in addition to potentially incentivizing development in river bottoms that would be better left as riparian habitat.

Executive Order 13693 (issued March 19, 2015) Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade. This E.O. directed agencies to improve their energy efficiency and water conservation efforts, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions of their vehicle fleets and data centers. Rescinding this order essentially tells agencies to stop trying to conserve; in other words, to spend more taxpayer dollars on water and energy.
A Quietus that Will Not Quiet Us

President Trump’s latest Executive Order cripples our efforts to both halt climate change and limit the damage it will cause. It scorns the near-unanimous consensus on the causes and effects of greenhouse gas pollution.

The president’s disastrous directive will mark a dark time in our history and the history of life on this planet if we are not able to offset its dangerous, short-sighted and self-interested priorities. The climate is warming, our actions are accelerating that warming, and if we abandon climate action, we will put ourselves on a collision course with destruction. This E.O. might seem like a quietus, but it will not quiet us. We must use it as a call to action if we intend to fight for life as we know it on Earth.
