  • Australian Military History - Links and References

Case's thread (http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/fo...ad.php?t=33109) about WW2 history online got me thinking.. not sure that we have a place specifically for such things so figured I'd start a thread as I found a very good page of links today and wanted to post it..

So... if you have any links to Australian & New Zealand military history sites and reference information, post it here. (If we do already have a place for this.. y'all will set me straight )

    and my other favourite..

This is also a good book with a lot of info on Australian involvement in war..

          Hi Thomas

Further to diggerhistory as Pierre mentioned, this one from our war memorial in Canberra gives a bit of a rundown

          http://www.awm.gov.au/events/travell...s/overview.htm

and this one also gives a good lot of info too.. much more detailed

              Will do Thomas.

This site may or may not have something. I've found it useful in various research projects. You can choose your key terms and then choose to search the photo collection only too. http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/picman/

Also, here are two extracts from the book I mentioned above. There are a couple of maps of where the Aussies were at two Vietnam battles (only ones in there), so it may be handy.

                    National History & OOB Threads

I think that would be a great idea, at the moment "advanced searches" show that a lot of info is already there, but spread across various forums.

The Australian War Memorial is in the process of placing much of it's collection of photos and artwork online. You can search for photos via www.awm.gov.au/database/collection.asp You should be able to find photos of the various firebases and camps by entering their names into the search field.
