Wasn't the 3rd Armored division already in Germany when Elvis Presley was drafted into the Army in the 1950s?

Units can and were moved around. It all depends on when Specialist Presley was in Germany.

Have you been struck by the jawbone of an ASS lately?

Elvis Presley served on active duty from March 1958 to March 1960.

3rd Armored Division served as a training division at FT Knox, KY, from 1947 to 1955, when it was reorganized as a deployable unit. It rotated from FT Knox to Germany in 1956, replacing the 4th Infantry Division as part of Operation Gyroscope. With the exception of deploying to Desert Storm, the 3rd Armored remained in Germany until inactivation in 1992.
