    Well hands free allows one to concentrate on one's harp plucking

    If this is the sort of technical problem that modern mankind puts its energies into solving - we are living in decadent times aren't we?

      No more decadant than extreme sports fans express, IMO.

      Cosplay =
      Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure), a contraction of the words costume play, is a hobby in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character.[1] Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture, and a broader use of the term "cosplay" applies to any costumed role-playing in venues apart from the stage. Any entity that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject and it is not unusual to see genders switched. Favorite sources include anime, cartoons, comic books, live-action films, television series and video games.

      The rapid growth in the number of people cosplaying as a hobby since 1990s has made the phenomenon a significant aspect of popular culture in Japan and some other parts of Asia and in the Western world. Cosplay events are common features of fan conventions and there are also dedicated conventions and local and international competitions, as well as social networks, websites and other forms of media centered on cosplay activities.

      The term "cosplay" was coined in Japan in 1984. It was inspired by and grew out of the practice then-known as fan costuming at science fiction conventions, beginning with the 1st World Science Fiction Convention in New York City in 1939.

          As I said in the OP, focus more on the "reenactor" than the "military", but if Mods think another subforum fits better, they will move this thread.

            Meanwhile, slight variation on the theme;
            Parents Surprise Couple With The Most Nerdtastic Wedding Portrait
            Excerpt;
            ...

            To celebrate the couple’s marriage, Jessica’s parents surprised them with a piece of artwork that reflects their movie, TV and comic book interests. Marvel artist Scott Johnson, a high school friend of the bride’s mother, created the amazing illustration.

            The portrait features a wide cast of comic book, TV and movie characters, including Captain Kirk, the Avengers, Woody and Buzz Lightyear (hidden at the end of the aisle), Rocket and Groot, plus an array of Disney favorites. The amount of nerd culture packed into this piece is pretty incredible.

              Well it's interesting but what are reenactors reenacting?

                Events out of the range of human experience, sometimes including conflict situations. Ever attended a Renaissance Faire?

                    So you've never attended a Renaissance Faire* either? (*One popular variation of cosplay)

                    Meanwhile, along with tag teaming HPJ on picking of fine nits, consider future and/or alternate realities, etc.

                    Wife and I just attended a murder mystery dinner party this weekend, theme being on the Salem Witch Trials and all of us attending did so in some version of a "pilgrim" costume while all being in jaol as accussed witches. Role-play~reenact~simulate~recreate~extrapolate~~~imagi native variations ... (maybe too outside a conventional sandbox for some ).

                      So people playing at being fairies and nothing to do with reenactment.

                        More interesting factoid was a young women blending skillsets to fabricate such into a home business, etc. ...

                        I'm gauging between $3-6,000 + per set, so marketing to an upscale "real-player" demographic/market.

                          Come to think of it, with a more rugged harness, this concept could lend towards a new idea in powered-controlled "para"-drop deployment. Adjustable wing and auxilary power~thrusters allowing a guided~glided landing of "airborne" troops = once down a quick shuck and where you want to be, engaged in what you need to do, but having got there by a powered~glided landpath (more precise than parachute~parawing)...

                          ... multi-flex airfoil/wings, with directional power unit + glide to pin-point landing/target ...
