    Charles the Bold

One of the more interesting points of Charles the Bold, from a military history perspective, is that Charles attempted to create the perfect army. He tried to incorporate the best ideas from all over Europe. Artillery, Gendarmes, mounted longbowmen and mixed crossbows with pavises supported by pike were some of the troops used. If you were his chief advisor when he came to power in 1467 which troops and strategies would you employ (given perfect hindsight )?

-Despite the fact I' m from Bourgogne I' ve just learned a lot about him, thank you-

I would have told him (as an advisor) not to hire too much mercenaries (funds are snow under the sun); to believe more in his cavalry as a mobile and efective troop, and less on his artillery.

And do never engage fight against swiss !!!

      Thanks for the reply.

The Swiss weren't unbeatable . Firepower from Longbowmen and artillery with the threat of lancers should help .

      Battle of Marignano

I think most of us prefer to drink Burgundy than re-imagine its military greatness.
