  • France keeps Alsace-Lorraine in 1871

Two historical changes in Germany. At the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War Bismarck prevails over von Moltke and convinces the Kaiser to not demand the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine. How might this change things? One possibility is an eventual Franco-German alliance to gain colonial possessions and a joint naval ability to counter the RN. Bismarck's success in the Franco-Prussian War and the non putatice peace terms allow him to stay in power. This budding Franco-Prussian alliance is strongly abetted later by Frederick III being cured (or in remission) of his lung cancer and ruling from 1888-1903.

Bismark ( as a great politician) knew perfectly well that France could accept that annexion, and that will lead to another war. No annexion means no WWI, no Communism, no Hitler and no WWII. it's a bit simplistic but it reflect my opinion. Germany would have kept all her colonies in Africa and pacific Ocean and could cause war with UK.
