  • War with Iran 1980.

Jimmy tries a failed rescue and gets impeached and replaced with Ronnie. Its January 1 1980.

I was in SAC at the time and would've cheerfully followed Ronnies orders.

Can we war game this out?

The players are Iran, Iraq, Israel, Russia, The Uk, USA, China, and other countries. It'd be cool if the states were played by people from said countries.

Mods for the game should be mods here.

    What do you guys think?

Wait! You forgot to include an important but tiny country, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick! We can rapidly deploy 20 bowmen armed with longbows and 3 men-at-arms.Of course we are on the side against Californians!! Who have undercut our wine sales!

Down with California and its corrupt politicians!

Would you base your scenario on one of the war boardgames available like Victory Games Gulf Strike or SPI's Oil War?

Oh I see there is an update of SPI's old game

I'd like a turn based PC game. Just to keep it neat and tidy. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions.

One of my buddies has the complete gulf strike series but has a job.

I tend to prefer computer games due to my paralysis from the waist down.

I am sorry to hear that,

I was just looking at Decision Games Oil War map, the Gulf Strike one is more comprehensive

Have you ever tried using a boardgame emulator or sometimes called a tabletop simulator?

There are Vassal modules of Gulf Strike and Oil War

                Gulf Strike looks viable.

One of the old Third World War series covered the Persian Gulf.

I also have a pdf of Gulf Strike rules, been meaning and wanting to play this game. There is an old computer game based on it but its too primitive to be useful.

Will it be a forum game, or will you play the actual game online ?

I was thinking a forum game, I'm getting chemo today so we'll see how I can deal with gaming. Otto do you want to gm the game?

If it all can be done here on the ACG I'm always interested in a new game, just let me know what role you still need filled, feel free to PM if needed.

Wish you all the best in difficult times there.

Yes best wishes to you Bwaha!

Sorry I had a one time turned off all the other features, private messaging etc. I think because "arnold" or some similar name had attacked me online years ago.

I am not sure how you would want to setup and run the game? It also has the Gulf Strike strategic map maybe a bit simpler to work with? I have pdfs of these games but I have barely read the rules. I seem to just horde all these games but rarely play them

                              http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Gulf_Strike
Gulf Strike was designed to be the state of the art in Land, Air, and Sea modern simulation. Since its original release, Gulf Strike has shown its ability to simulate the changing character of the Gulf Wars from the Iran-Iraq war to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and its potential aftermath. In fact the original 1983 edition correctly anticipated the type and character of units the United States would send to the region in the event of a crisis. Seven complete scenarios cover the recent history of the region, plus the current Desert Shield operation, and portray the multitude of alliances possible to counter threats arising in numerous quarters. Complete air, land, and sea orders of battle for several dozen nations allow you to fight each conflict to its unpredictable and often startling conclusion.
There are several youtube videos on how to use Vassal
