    As for the Brit... it is 04:00 & the radar plot has a unknown cluster of ships 10,000 yards ahead, which should absolutely not be there

      And it's USN waters, so the pips are probably friendly.

        They would have made a contact/recognition signal. Probablly by radio considering the range given above. I cant say if a USN liasion officer would have been aboard.
