The loss of Blucher showed the risk to close range torpedoes when sailing a capital ship up a fjord.

WI the Germans layed an ambush, the U boat torpedoes work, and it's Warspite and her 9 destroyers that end up at the bottom of Narvik Fjord?

With Chamberlain still PM at the time, such losses would have had a devastating effect on the parlous British morale. Or else the the desire for swift revenge may have led to reckless costly actions.
And the extra escort load on the RN by the absence of Warspite might have just turned things in the Battle of the Atlantic. And the absence of 9 destroyers even earlier, during the Dunkirk evacuation.

This is his best work to date....

Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

But the period was done with feeling.

What effect on the Battle of the Atlantic would the loss of Warspite have? Right after Narvik she went to the Med.

The Battle of the Atlantic was won by DD and smaller armed craft. The Warspite and her ilk, although useful, had much less impact.

The Brits could trade three of any type of ship with the Germans and still call themselves the winner.
