  • Operation Iceburg in 1944?

During the Sextant Conference at Cairo in November, 1943, President Franklin Roosevelt surprises the Joint Chiefs of Staff with a set of marching orders for the following year. He has decided to stage a daring invasion of the Ryukyu Islands in 1944, and sets a target date of November 1st, 1944 for Operation Iceburg. Will the Combined Chiefs sign on? Can the US and their allies make it happen? How would this impact the war? Is it operationally feasible? Discuss or ridicule as you like!

Tough one. I'd give a hypothetical yes at this point, but am very unsure if the tradeoffs in cargo shipping could be accomplished.
