    Ah, right (couldn't see the wood for the trees!)

    If the Death Ride of the HSF had inflicted any sinking's, especially of capital ships then revenge would have been taken at the negotiating table. Ultimately and inevitably by that stage of the war, events on the Western Front were what counted but any embarrassments inflicted upon the Royal Navy would have resulted in still harsher penalties drawn up in the Treaty of Versailles.

    Again, harsher penalties and reparation payments inflicted on Germany lead to a whole host of equally interesting 'what ifs' (if anybody would care to set those hares running)?
