    Second Rhodesia!
It is year 2014, an international movement of same minded individuals with big monetary support is planning to conquer Zimbabwe and recreate Rhodesia!

That is what WE are going to do in this thread, we recreate Rhodesia. We need to plan what to do, what kind of stuff to acquire and how the invasion works. After that we need to create what kind of state Rhodesia is.

I will be a Semi-GM of some sort of this Semi-Wargamish-Discussion. That means that you will do the hard work as gathering information and deciding what to do. I will keep track of things and work as NPC of somesort. I also want that decisions are plausible, so no F-35s for Rhodesian Air Force or that We decide that Rhodesia is going to start her own space program.

The most important thing is that we have fun in this thread.

First thing to do is to plan our moves, acquire equipment and men for Rhodesian Army (Better name can be decided) and do diplomacy.

At start we have 1000 Regulars, 500 whites and 500 blacks. They will form the backbone of our Armed Forces and they can be trained into different roles, except into pilots or other high training needed positions. Those men must be acquired from other sources.

There is no standard equipment chosen from plausible sources.

    There is no TOE.

There is nearly nothing. Where our men can train?, where does the supplies come, everything.

I will leave the ball to you to think about this and to see if this catches wind under its wings.

To get a better idea, there's an unlimited budget? And only 1000 willing recruits?

Unlimited budget, but in a plausible way, so no super expensive stuff in big numbers and reasonable sources to acquire the equipment and other stuff. I think no one would sell modern 5th generation fighter to bunch of mercenary/businessmen, but older milsurp helicopters and fighters could be bought much easier.

1000 men at start, more can be acquired from different sources.

        Be creative!

Personally, I think we should be shopping around for equipment. Its more than likely we could buy some old Russian equipment on the cheap.

Cheap Russian stuff is a good way to go, cheap reliable tanks, aircraft and helo's and also very reliable small arms and artillery. Also anyone will sell it.

One aspect what about non convential weaponary, you know the usual suspects?

Personally, I know Madagascar has some old Russian tanks they could do without. At least 5 and that would barely make a dent. Also, I know of a few private companies that actually sell warships!

Contact Israel ASAP. Tell them we need upgraded Russian heavy equipment and Western small arms. Offer them semi exclusive economic interests and they'll jump up and down and give us everything for free. Contact South Africa and Namibia too, there we'll find more sources of gear suitable for the terrain and plenty of willing recruits fed up with the ANC's Socialist BS.

Put out international appeals to all the Libertarians that we're looking to create a new state from scratch and that we're going to show the world what Classical Liberal policies can do to the wasteland that is Zimbabwe. That will get us plenty of manpower.
A wild liberal appears! Conservative uses logical reasoning and empirical evidence! It's super effective! Wild liberal faints.

You gather information on possible equipment that could be acquired.
After Inquiring your sources you have found out that you could acquire military equipment from Russia and former Soviet Republics.
You also Inquire if Madagascar is willing to sell their equipment to you, but they refused your offer currently.
You also found out about 6 C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. Sadly their armament had been stripped off, but otherwise they are working fine.

Through your Israeli contacts you have found out, that they are currently neutral, but they are willing to sell their second hand equipment and captured arab equipment to us. They are interested on economic interests but as there is no Rhodesia, they cannot accept any economic interests.

South African Defense Companies are interested in selling equipment to us, but not same can be said from Namibia. Namibian contacts refused as Namibia-Zimbabwe relationship is too important.

These are of course official sources for weaponry, but Africa and world is full of Arms Dealers that could sell their weaponry to you, but that is of course illegal and the quality might be bad.

You have attracted people who are willing to join you. Do you accept them?
                      - 100 Black men (conscripts) from countries in southern Africa. Looking for better life.
                      - 50 Men (Green) from around the world. Looking for better life an money.
                      - 30 members of PMC (veteran), they are interested in money.

I need confirmation on following things, preferably from few people:
                      - 6 C-130; No armament, good quality, no pilots. Do we buy them?
-Daisy Cutter bomb schematics, no factory to build them. Do we buy them?
-Do we continue our inquiries about equipment, if we continue, from what sources do you want to ask and in what equipment are you interested?
-Do you want to "Put out international appeals to all the Libertarians that we're looking to create a new state from scratch and that we're going to show the world what Classical Liberal policies can do to the wasteland that is Zimbabwe." It would certainly make us more know in the world, but publicity also has its downsides.

I am going to list troop quality in following scale:
-Conscript, they know how guns work and know how to point them at general direction of enemies, but they lack training and motivation.
-Green, they have training and motivation, but they haven't tasted combat. Basic Infantry soldiers
-Regular, Backbone of armies around the world. Professional Soldiers.
-Veteran, Professional Soldiers that have been around for awhile.
-Crack, Especially good soldiers, best of the best.
-Elite, best of the best of the best. Handful of these can change the course of a battle.

If you have any information or stuff that could be even slightly useful, post it.
Inform me on non conventional weaponry, what do you have on your mind?
                      If Questions, ask them.

Found this, not sure if it is up to date.

I managed to find that there is 6+ Hercules in sale around the world, so it is possible to buy them, not just from SA.

Perhaps buy a few T-80s from Russia?

                            http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-80

And some T-34s? Surely they can be bought on the cheap? PT-76s?
