  • Bill Mauldin

Any comments? I think he reflected the soldier of WWII (even though in a funny light) quite well.

Just a few of my favorites:

Fresh, spirited American troops, flushed with victory, are bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle-weary prisoners. (News item)

That’s always been one of my favorites.

You can see Bill Maudin in a movie with Audie Murphy called "The Red Badge of Courage". It's one of Muphy's first movies.

Bill Mauldin captured the feelings of the guy in the foxhole better than anyone (well I guess Ernie Pyle was his equal). He won two Pulitzer Prizes (one while still in uniform) and his recent death marks the passing of an era.
