I Would have chosen the 101st airborne. Not that I DON'T LIKE THE 82nd airborne. My fav is the Screaming Eagles!!!!

They Are All Worthy Of Being Someone's Favorite!

I Chose the Only "Division" I ever served in in 13 years in the Army. I served 2 years with the Big Red One in Fort Riley, KS.
The remainder of my time was spent in independent Brigades.

Just in case anyone is interested.....they are.....in order of service after the Big Red One (which was my first permanent party assignment)

3rd Bn 35th Field Artillery / 72nd Field Artillery Brigade

4th Bn 4th Field Artillery / 75th Field Artillery Brigade

C Btry 94th Field Artillery (later redesignated E Btry 320th Field Artillery / Berlin Brigade

        1st Bn 77th Field Artillery / 194th Armored Brigade

Gen. Maxell Taylor, commander of the 101st, was 82nd DIVARTY commander in the early years of the war. They have so much in common but there is only ONE AIRBORNE DIVISION left in the U.S. Army today, 82nd Abn Division.:thumb:

                  3d Infantry Divison,of course.
I was in 1/15 INF,same batallion as Audie Murphy.

Not to take away from the airborne, respects to the 101st and the 82nd, but I have to vote for the Big Red One because it was involved in every major engagement the US had in the European Theater.

'99 to '00. I was part of 1/15 INF (M) which is part of 3D Brigade.
Unlike the rest of 3D I.D.,the 3D Brigade is up on Kelley Hill at FT Benning.

When I say Kelley Hill,This tends to lead to confusion because in a decade's time this unit has been 197 INF BDE and 3 BDE,24 I.D. prior to 3D taking over.
