  • Shells bouncing off tank's armor in game - curious, realistic sound or not?

How realistic would you rate the looks and sounds of the shell impacts on this tank?

This game tries to make its tank combat as realistic as possible, so thickness and angle of armor, distance, type of shell, interior damage, etc, all come into play when a tank is hit.

It begins at 00:30 min in.

Somewhat unrealistic. The sound would vary depending on the angle of the strike, but in this instance the sound is exactly the same each time, including the weird harmonic.

Well, the tank is hit from the same direction, at the same spot, every time. I'm not sure that the sound would vary in the game though, it might be a bit of an excessive detail.

The 'weird harmonic' - are you referring to the sound that can be heard after the shells have impacted the tank - the sound that sounds almost like an engine? That's meant to be the sound of the shell ricocheting off into the sky. It seems to be very inspired by the movie "Fury".

The explosion and smoke seems very accurate and realistic-looking, though.

True, although the shell should cause some damage and deformation each time it hits. However, it's Better than a lot of them, and if you like it that's all that matters. Definitely better than the only old game I still have left.
