  • The Last Bristol Blenheim

    This is a very, very touching documentary about an almost heroic effort, by a group of enthusiasts in England, to rebuild an airworthy Bristol Blenheim light bomber out of a bunch of scrap parts. Words cannot describe the tenacity, patience and dedication of this team of people.

    Here are the rest of the parts:
    Part 2
    Part 3
    Part 4
    Part 5

    Hats of to 'em... every time they rebuild it some silly sod goes and crashes it! I've seen it fly several times at Duxford... it really is a fine tribute to the early days of Bomber Command.

    The long toll of the brave
    Is not lost in darkness
    Over the fruitful earth
    And athwart the seas
    Hath passed the light of noble deeds
    Unquenchable forever.

          lets hope they get the beauty flying.

          I see that it was the late great BBC TV presenter Raymond Baxter that narrated the documentary. He flew IIR, A Spitfire Mk14 in WW2 accounting for a unique kill of a V2 as it was climbing from its launch pad.

          ‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
          All human ills he can subdue,
          Or with a bauble or medal
          Can win mans heart for you;
          And many a blessing know to stew
          To make a megloamaniac bright;
          Give honour to the dainty Corse,
          The Pixie is a little shite.

            Can somebody identity the music in the second part at 2:10? Sounds like a very nice classical tune.
