  • The holocaust

This is one issue that we haven't really delved into yet. The Holocaust. The systematic erradication of an entire race made by a Madman and his Regime. Other than the obvious who is responsible? The SS? Gestapo? Collaborators? If the Jews would have been left alone, would the outcome of the war have been different? Were the Nuremberg trials adequate? Share your comments, views, opinions and photos here. This must never happen again.

Unfortunately, the Holocaust was not the first nor the last time that somebody tried to eradicate a people.
Witness the Armenians at the beginning of the 20th century.
This even carries on today in a smaller scale. Witness the ethnic cleansing in the FRY and the slaughter of as many as 800,000 Hutus in Rwanda in 1994.
Scientists have announced they've discovered a cure for apathy. However no one has shown the slightest bit of interest !!

True, won't we learn as a race?

No. Try hard as we can; there will always seem to be someone who can let others live in peace.

        Cheers!

I have always said that mankind (humans) is the worst species dwelling upon the face of this planet..........even the most fierce and ferocious wild animals can live together in some sort of peace.
We humans have never been able to do this, nor will we ever be able to do this.

Only on Europe? It happened by the time when race theories were very popular in US and all over the world. If there's one good thing in otherwise absolutely horrifying Holocaust, it is that it showed to mankind what will happen if such theories were drawn to their logical conclusion.

You are right. Anti-semitism was not just a German or European phenomenon. The U.S and other countries actually barred access to German Jews trying to flee Nazi Germany. There is a movie ( I believe it is called the VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED) that deals with this subject. I would be willing to bet that this is still a touchy subject in certain circles.

What Turkey did to its Armenian population has never noted by many historians. The number of deaths (estimated at somewhere between 1-2 million) certainly deserves wider rememberence.

Iraq's treatment of its Kurdish minority would also have to be on the list.

Unfortunately it is a very long list.

Is there a population who wasnt slated for ethnic cleansing at some point in it's history? Or guilty of same?
