I have heard alot about and posted alot about the 101st and the 82nd airborne divisions, but what about the airborne divisions fighting in the Pacific, from first hand accounts in books I've read I can say that they went through the meatgrinder!!!!!

    Thanks

There is a good book about the retaking of Corregidor by airborne. When I get home from work I'll look for it, and post the title, etc.

ANGELS AT DAWN THE LOS BANOS RAID
        Lt General EM Flanigan
        (ISBN: 0891416870)
Date Published: 30-Jun-1999 (published by Presidio Press)
        304 pages

Is a fairly good account of some of the operations of the 11th Airborne in the Philippines especially their operations in helping retake Manila and in the rescue of several thousand civilian internees at the Los Banos Camp.

The author served as a junior officer with one of theDivisions Arty units during the war.

Another book about the landing on Corregidor is one written by General E.M. Flanagan Jr. titled "Corregidor: The Rock Force Assault" Presido Press, 1997.

The author also wrote "Angels At Dawn".

                  Para Marines

I've also read some accounts of the Para Marines. I'm not sure they did many combat drops, but they served during the Guadacanel campaign.
