    VETERANS DAY, 2007

In memory of two departed members of the Greatest Generation . . .

My Father, receiving the Air Medal from Gen Emmett O'Donnell for flying anti-submarine missions in the Caribbean in his B-25G, just prior to departure for Saipan, MI, to fly B-29 missions over Japan.

My Father-in-Law, (center) with other members of the Yugoslav detachment who flew without pay for the RAF and USAAF in missions over southern Europe, earning their US citizenship through a Special Act of the US Congress following the war.

Great idea for a thread Radio Researcher.
    Nice pictures too.
Your Dad and Father-in-Law look like they were in pretty good shape.
To earn American citizenship the way that your father-in-law did is an interesting concept.
    Pleased to meet you.

Likewise. An excellent article on the history of the Yugoslav Detachment, including how they obtained citizenship, can be found at http://www.376hbgva.com/history/yugoslavia/index.html Click on the individual pages to get a readable view.
