  • Stalingrad - 'The Bell'

    Hi:

I have been through all my maps and pictures of Stalingrad and I cannot locate a place named 'The Bell'. I believe it is a name used by the German troops, to designate an area they attacked. Can anyone help me on this?

    Regards,

Could it be a nickname for the Mamaev Kurgan?

I've never heard that , only the 'tennis racket'. Do you have any
other info that might help us figure it out?

        The Bell

        Hi:

I just found a reference, "mopping up the Beketovka 'Bell'".
Beketovka is a city/town 14km. south of the center of Stalingrad, on the Volga.

        Regards,
