Think,we are a quite small country, but last year,we "welcomed" 83 millions of tourists, wich makes France the most visited country in the world...Why ?
Surely not for the kindness or politeness of the Parisian waiters, but ,imo, because France is a myth: best wines, best food, best monuments,in a 1000 km diameter, you will enjoy all the landscapes possible, you will meet the beautest girls on earth. In southern France, you can enjoy a unique "douceur de vivre" ,in the marvellous Provence area.
In Normandie, you can put your feet where your glorious ancestors fought for today's freedom, then you can follow the route of the Liberty through France.
So,to sum up,I strongly believe that the French bashing mostly comes from peoples whose contribution to the world's progress is minor,or where girls are hugly and food is tasteless.
I was on a canal boat in Burgundy last September and had a wonderful time. The food was great, the scenery charming, and the other girls very stylish.

Yes unfortunately there has been a noticeable revival of Australian racist undercurrent (nothing too overt, just nuances you pick up) at least at certain levels of society (which of course is me showing my prejudices! boy ya can't win can ya?).

And thanks to the blatant politicisation of an virtual non-issue (the tiny number of Asylum seekers) by a certain political party and a certain PM (who shall remain nameless) it seems partly directed towards boat people.

Suppose the boat people were Anglo? Would a Prime Minister whose middle name was Winston have taken the same approach he did with the ME and Asian asylum seekers?
He knew exactly what he was unleashing.

Sorry, I drifted off-topic (something I sometimes berate others for doing!). Lousy politics… upsets ye ole applecart all the time.

In fact, the words "racial" and "race" are now outlawed in French laws. It is replaced with the word "ethnic". Now that is really narrowing it down to specifics.

I'm not doing anything of the sort. I was simply making a point. I don't care about the French. I do care about hyperbole, and the bullshit PCism that follows.

The French are not a race. One cannot be racist about a nation. Phobic may be a better way to say things, but racist is just wrong and deserves to be called.

Sometime???? What about the other times?

ls is ok, once a month, just like a woman, once a month.

It's only once or twice a year for me, being underweight.
