  • Capitulation of "Prussia" Army 1939

Polish Army "Prussia" is shown on the Wehrmacht animated map being forced back towards Warsaw.

The southern part of Army Prussia is then encircled in a cauldron around Radom where it is annihilated.

Then the footage shows Polish survivors from the Radom cauldron surrendering and disarming.

Note large numbers of cyclists and mounted troops.

The units in round police-like caps are Polish National Police--unsure how they were conscripted into the army structure or what their duties were.

Polish army units fought as dragoons in September 1939--horses were used for long distance marches, but when contact was made troops dismounted and fought on foot. Stories of cavalry charges were mostly untrue/propaganda.

    Filmed by Wehrmacht.
