    This could possibly be the most interesting naval story of WW1 as well as contain the oddest cast of characters. The African Queen may have been loosely based on the Mimi & Toutou. I really need to get one of the books available on the subject.

    Just for info you forgot the Fifi!. What intimidating awe inspiring names for warships! No doubt the Germans were terrified of them.

    Really nice pics though, great grandfather FitzHerbert was in the German East Africa during this time and we have some photos in the family, but they are with the rest the family crew overseas so cannot publish them sadly.
