    How many active corps were available to germans and french in august 1914 ?

    My information is 26 for germans and french 22 plus independent battalions equivalent to 6 more corps so totally around 28 corps

    The French had 22 Corp, numbered 1 to 21 (the 19th Corp was based in North Africa) plus the Colonial Corp.

    The Germans had 25 Corps, numbered 1 to 24 plus the Guards Corp.
