  • greco-turk collision

i haven't found anything about in the news but there have been rumors from both greece and turkey that a collision occurred between frigates of the two navies.
greece claims the turkish ship had a damaged shaft, and the turks claim the greek ship was towed away by a tug...but of note they do claim the greek ship hit them in the aft end of their ship and that 4 greek sailors were injured.

It seems that the French Navy is deploying with the Greeks to fend off the Turks.

sort of. macron is siding with greece, but the amphib deployment to the eastern med is to conduct humanitarian aid in lebannon, the **** with turkey just happened to be convenient.

a picture of the damage to the turkish frigate.
doesn't look like the early rumors of a damaged shaft were true, but a serious hole was opened up in the upper decks.

Had the collision caused to ship to tilt over, or was in the process of doing a hard turn... they may have been enough to touch the starboard prop. Or like the Norwegian frigate, the axis of the hull has been twisted, causing leaks along the seals. Provided that’s even happened. The damage we can see suggests future provoking will be forthcoming.

yep that's more or less what i said initial in my initial analysis from pictures and tweets available after limnos was photographed after the incident exercising with the french. it is still possible, but i'm not sure how the greeks would know that almost immediately after the incident to have tweeted it out.
