  • US Marines winding down WSO's, F/A-18D to fly with one pilot only.

Marine Corps F/A-18 fleet will be winding down on backseaters, since the pilot can do everything from the front seat, and the second pair of eyes only adds in the FAC(A) mission.
    So goodbye to WSO's there.
Not entirely remarkable considering there's no such thing as a two seat F-35.

Just a couple days ago I read that the new F-15C/EX's to be bought by the USAF will be twoseaters (F-15EX) exclusively, to be flown by a pilot-only if the unit was a former F-15C unit. I think it had something to do with the E already certified by and large, while a similar single seater (F-15CX) would need too much certification to be economically viable.
