Both were! But your talking about two different time periods.

Ironically the M1911 did have its contribution to revolver technology. The auto loaders were in such short supply when the US entered WW I that the 1917 S&W revolver was designed to fire the .45ACP round. Because that is a rimless it needed "half moon" clips to keep the rounds in place. Voila, the first speed loaders .

I would have to say for "accuracy" I would pick the .45 Long Colt revolver. On the other hand, however, its a hell of a lot easier and faster to hit that eject clip button on the .45 ACP and slap another clip in.

If I just had one target to worry about hitting I would pick the revolver.

Multiple targets (more than 6) I would have to go with the semi-auto.

The .45 Colt revolver is really from a different era. I have nothing against revolvers, but I would certainly opt for a more modern one (maybe a S&W .357 magnum). Not only could they handle faster loads, but they can be reloaded much faster. I really don't think the .45 Long Colt is more accurate than the .45ACP.

Look at the knockdown power.......I was just going for accuracy because it is a revolver.
              I like the thoughts, though.

I might be wrong, but I think the .45ACP and the .357 mag. both have more muzzle energy than the .45 Long Colt.

                      Choice of .45 Auto

I would chose the .45 Auto over the revolver any day. One because it uses magizines not a turning barrel. And two because 0f the compact size of it.
