  • I found a cool photo of Mk 53 proximity fuze

    According to some sources when shooting airburst fire on enemy ground troops the proximity fuze increased effectiveness by 700% compared to timed air bursts. It was a great scientific achievement of WWII that was comparable to radar and other engineering breakthroughs.
