  • Rommel's command car -- a.k.a. Mammoth

Does anyone have a picture of Rommel's captured British armored car he used for a good portion of his campaign in N.A.? It is nicknamed Mammot (Mammut). I am reading his "Rommel Papers" and he refers to it over and over...but there is only one fuzzy picture of the actual vehicle.

Good book that!.....have reached as far as the Normandy landings but still have to finish it off.
Have you tried any web sites about Rommel? I think there are a few out there.

Yes, his writing is very readable and reminds me very much of an AAR. I have searched the Internet high and low looking for a picture of it...to no avail. I figured for sure someone here would have that info

        Why bother with that....

        Hello Siberan HEAT,

Why bother with searching for that armored car? After all, you're a General! Your armored car is your little mouse that you're been beating the crap out of it, cursing it when things don't go your way in a heated TAOW game!

I have some dreadful memories of smashing my mouse when that stupid...oh well, I better stop rambling about THAT stupid...ah....

I have a couple of pictures of it actually. Once I figure out how to put it up here I'll do it.

Rommel loved many, many ugly things. His wife wasnt a gem either.

                    WOW! I wonder?...

Man that thing IS 'b-ugly' and it sort of reminds me of that vehicle from the Movie "Mystery Men"(sp?). THAT one was somewhat more 'eye friendly', but it was still massive compared to what's out there now-a-days.

It does look very ugly. But it obviously didn't effect his campaigning. Whatver works I guess.
