  • Big Helicopter Downed (Video)

    Russian transport, probably Mi-26. Chechen militants used a shoulder-fired SAM.

      Interesting movie (though you can't really see any thing important).
      But wasn't this in the news a couple of month back? (at least in germany)
      I remember seeing something like that.
      "A platoon of Chinese tanks viciously attacked a Soviet harvester,
      which was peacefully working a field near the Soviet-Chinese border.
      The harvester returned fire and upon destroying the enemy
      returned to its home base."

        Most of us have morbid fascination with air crashes so I figured it's important. Now, the nursing topic I'm studying this evening is about collecting mid-stream urine specimen. If I wrote about that you could say it's not important to the Warfarehq crowd.

            Let's hope you don't have to learn how to collect sperm samples.

              The anything important was related to the idea that you just see the helo crash but not how it happened --> as I said it was on the news quite some time back.

                I was in Chechnya (about 4 km down the road actually...) when the Halo got shot down -> talk about a bad time to be not Russian...

                Interesting video -> ofc Kavkaz would be spruiking it. (kavkaz = chechen mujahedeen propaganda machine - sometimes have to take what they say with a grain of salt.)

                What they don't show is the retaliation that attack caused -> 3 BM-22 battalions just opened up and the sky was literally filled with rockets - not sure they were aimed at anything, but it was enough to make me hug the ground. My russian guides/escorts seemed fairly blase about it.

                (I was always skeptical about the claims of the effectiveness of massed artillery - especially in an urban environ - until I visited Komsomolskoye...)
                Now listening too;
                - Russell Robertson, ruining whatever credibility my football team once had.
