      Yes, a infrared guided mortar bomb developed in the late 80s. It is called STRIX.

          The STRIX is in use and is AFAIK the only IR-guided mortar bomb out there. I know that both Israel, Russian and the US have been experimenting with GPS as well as laserguided munitions for mortars, but I dont know how succesfull they have been.

          I belive the STRIX costs around 40.000 USD per bomb which makes it quite cost efficent when aimed at tanks.

            In the 80's the British developed and experimented with an 81mm mortar round that was Radar guided. It was called Merlin.
