  • The sights made me think Mauser, so I dipped into my books.

    Looks like a 9mm SMG model 1939 submachine gun.

          LMG has me stumped! And stumped but good. I know I have seen the weapon in my library, but I need to narrow down a clue.

          Like the very identifiable Mauser sight!

          • OK, it may not look like it but it is a weapon. Sorry the photo is not clearer, but it is from an old declassified Allied document.

                • Correct, aka Abwehr Flammenwerfer. A static flamethrower that was buried in mine fields.

                          Actually, I found the photo and description in a U.S. War Department Manual of Enemy Weapons, stamped restricted and dated January 1945. It was in a collection of books I had purchased.
