          • G3 - 7.5 mm? It sure looks like a lot with the gun I used while in the army.

Were your G-3s in 7.5mm? That sounds strange, I thought they were in .308 from the beginning, being designed as successors for the Bundeswehr FALs?

Anyway, if I may be picky, the pic looks like an early series G3A3 with ventilated plastic handguard, though the ventilation slits don't appear that well on the render...
It should still be at least in wide service in Turkey at least.

I left the army back in 97, but I'm almost sure that's what they told us back then. I'm no specialist, it just looks like the gun I used, the same gun Portugal used in the colonial war in the 60's. They still use it ...

Yes the G3, regardless of model name (M/61 in Portugal btw) has always been 7.62mm NATO (.308 win). Its probably still in use in more than 20 countries around the world.

                        • Back in tha days I could make into pieces and put it up together blindfolded (not sure if that's how you spell it". It wasn't too hard btw.
I guess they just told us 7.5 mm just to make it easier to remember, I bet they thaught we were all stupid.
Oh well, nothing like bousting the moral.
