    We have forum threads like Name That Battle, Name That Leader,and last but not least, Name That Scene. So, I figure, why not a name Name That Weapon thread(if this has already been tried, feel free to make me brutaly aware). In that vein, here's a weapon for you:

    Is that a Ferguson Rifle from the Revolutionary War? My first reaction was a Brown Bess, but the trigger guard is throwing me.

        I don't know it remind's me of one of the rifles used my napolean's infantry. Might be 1800's. I think it is.

          Wouldn't be able to guess..> BTW not our first weapons forum ... Though all the ones we did so far have all been 20th Century weapons so this is new in another way

            It is indeed a Ferguson Rifle, invented by Patrick Ferguson. It was one of the first breechloading firearms, and a limited number were adopted by the British Army, but none were ever issued to the troops. Ferguson himself met his demise at the Battle of King's Mountain,in 1790. Ironicly he met his death at the hands of a colonist with a rifle.

                    Good Job. The Martini-Henry Mark IV Rifle. As Used by the British in Colonial campaigns, up into the late 1800s. It also saw use during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900-01.
