  • Captain Cook's Ship Endeavour Found?

Researchers said they believe they have located the wreckage of the Endeavour, a ship sailed by the famous British explorer James Cook, which was sunk off the US during the revolutionary war.
The ship was scuttled in 1778 leading up to the Battle of Rhode Island between American colonists and the British, and was as part of a blockade during the revolutionary war.

Quite the find indeed a man of much world wide discovery... Captain James Cook is also associated with General James Wolfe & the Plains of Abraham (French & Indian War).

Producing what may be the earliest depth charts in North America of the St. Lawrence River allowing a British victory and the creation of British North America.

    Cheers, Patrick

Unfortunately (for us not her crew) she wasn't sunk in action or wrecked in a storm but deliberately scuttled which probably means that most items of interest were removed before she went down. It's likely that what's on the bottom are the remains of an empty hull.
