I only see two. The two M-3s are not the same tank.

                          • My apologies to Slick24 and Catman. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. It must have been the liquor.

I was confused between the Light Tank M3 and the Medium Tank M3 (as the US Army referred to them). Stuart, Lee and Grant were the British Army designations. Not an excuse really, just thought I'd point it out.

                            Cheers,
                            Dan.

I believe that the US called the M-3 the Grant and the British called them Lee. I might be wrong about that though.

The US Army didn't name their early tanks. That came later. Naming tanks was a British affectation. Grant and Lee were both British names for the M3 Medium, depending upon turret configuration.

Personally, I favour naming tanks over numerical designations. Naming tanks avoids the confusion of two tanks designated M3.
