He liked to skinny-dip in the Potomac, so one day one of his aides pinched his clothes and he had to run back to the White House in the buff.

That's what I found about "flake". Is this the meaning intended in this Baker's dozen?

It can also be a person of bizarre personal habits that don't conveniently fit into any other category.

He's known as "the greenest man in Hollywood," but he hasn't worked in twenty years, so how is anyone to know how green he is?

              Like an eccentric?

A very interesting question and one that I've pondered on for the past several days. I think I've come up with an answer that satisfies me, so I'll share it with you and let each of you individually decide if it defines the word for you.

First of all, an eccentric is not a flake. An eccentric is an eccentric, it's not like there was a need for another word to describe this type of individual.

What a flake is, I've decided, is someone who wants to be thought of as an eccentric, but is blatantly faking it. Someone who, because of personal insecurities, is trying to be thought of as eccentric but can't even come close to pulling it off.

If we look at the list of flakes so far, by my definition neither John Harvey Kellogg, John Quincy Adams or Mark Fidrych would be flakes, as they were all genuinely eccentric. Even though Fidrych was called a flake while he was active, I think most people would have meant to say that he was eccentric. Mickey Rivers I don't know enough about to make that determination (genuinely eccentric or just being an a$$).

Kato Kaelin, Dennis Kucinich, and Ed Begley Jr are definite flakes, because they are presenting a phoney eccentric persona to the world. Kucinich, and all politicians, would fall into this category during an election.

Some other examples of genuine flakes? Donald Trump, anyone who has their own reality TV show, Richard Branson, and all Scientologists.

                  Cheers,
                  Dan.

Flake, eccentric or very smart business woman? - I'll await slick's or Ibis' decision or anyone who knows more about flakes than me (I'm much better off with motorcycles)

I'll call her a flake. She was photographed at London's Heathrow Airport wearing a pair of shoes so ridiculous that she couldn't help but to fall down.

                                Now that's flaky.

Now all we need is a new Baker's Dozen. ¿Por qué esperas?
