                        The outbreak of WW1 saw a lot of anti-German feeling in the country. It was decided in 1916 to change the name from Berlin to Kitchener, in honour of the Field Marshall who died that year.

                        Lots of German migrated to the area and it holds the biggest Oktoberfest outside of Germany.
